Daniel is due to give numerous solo recitals in 2022 in preparation for a recording of Brahms piano works in June: Scherzo, Op. 4, Sonata in F minor Op. 5 and Drei Intermezzi, Op. 117. In February and March he also partners the Elias, Heath and Sacconi Quartets in concerts up and down the country. His London Bridge Trio will appear in London at Conway Hall, as well as Norwich, Brickwall, Sidmouth and Winchester.

In December 2021, Daniel recorded his first solo CD for Resonus Classics: a disc of Beethoven Sonatas, the three Op. 10. The recording is due for release in Spring 2022.

After fifteen months, Daniel gave his first post-lockdown concerts in June. The very first was at the Wigmore Hall with the wonderful Elias Quartet, playing Dvorak's Piano Quintet and was a delightful way to re-emerge, after the cancellation of the Wye Valley 20th birthday concert at the same hall in March 2020 - the very first of the pandemic cancellations. Daniel has since played at the Winchester Chamber Music Festival, 3 Choirs Festival, Proms at St Jude's and his own Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival this summer, as well as Dundee, Inverness, Chichester and Birmingham this autumn.

Daniel was awarded his PhD in July 2021, for a Thesis entitled Reinterpreting Beethoven: Contemporary Compositional and Performance Responses to the Violin Sonatas (1798-1812).

2020

Daniel has joined the staff at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music, as chamber music coach.

There has been much praise for Daniel's most recent recording: the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven on Resonus Classics. International Piano Magazine wrote: "Michael and Tong take on this key repertory in a spirit of fresh, fearless égalité, stylistic certainty and all-round technical brilliance."
